Every piece is unique. I use pine planks cut at a local sawmill. Their shapes and sizes vary a bit, giving my furniture its rustic, arty look. Obviously every piece crafted with driftwood is definitely unique.
My wood is sourced locally, supporting local shops and businesses. Driftwood is collected at a nearby beach. I build all the furniture in my workshop at home, and deliver the finished pieces within a radius of 50km. Delivery to locations further away can be arranged.
Discussing the customer's needs, I can offer the cheapest solutions possible. Many different factors influence the choice of material. I guarantee sturdy, durable furniture that will last many years, tailor-made to your budget.
I am a single Mom living in a remote area at the Wild Coast, building my own house and creating an off-the-grid, close-to-nature lifesyle.
I spent 12 years helping to build and run Wild Lubanzi Backpackers, where I gained all my woodwork and construction experience. Out of my need for an independent income and the local community's need for quality furniture, the idea of the barefoot builder was born. Creating beautiful things out of wood (and other materials) brings me joy, and at the same time I can supply the local residents with useful items.
Bed Bases are custom-made to all standard sizes: Single (190x90cm), Three-Quarter (190x120cm), Double (190x140cm), Queen (190x160cm) and King (190x180cm). The height of the bed can be chosen by the customer (choose longer legs so you don't have to put it on bricks). A creative headboard can be added on request.
The bed bases are built out of pine wood; the creative headboards can contain driftwood pieces.
Door and window frames are built out of treated pine wood. All frames can be built to the customer's specifications. Door frames are usually standard size, and for window panes there's several standard sizes too.
The frames do not inculde the actual doors, or the window glass panes.
Shelves are built to the customer's specifications. They can be big wardrobe shelves with clothing hooks, kitchen shelves to store plates or pots, bathroom shelves for your personal hygiene items, single shelves mounted to the wall, or whatever other shelve you fancy. Tables can be built to all sizes, with untreated wood (indoor use) or treated wood (outdoor use). Be it for a family dinner table, or garden picnic table, I can make whatever you need.
